Perhaps I was a Bit Hard on Scott
Filed Under Photography on May 23, 2008 at 5:25 pm
When I wrote my review of Photography podcasts I was not entirely complimentary about a certain Scott Bourne. He still annoys me every time he brags about his expensive this or his expensive that but he does write some very good posts on the TWIP blog and indeed contributes very well to the TWIP show – despite the occasional slip into bragging. On-balance I think I’ve been converted to a Scott Bourne fan … mostly.
Anyhow, it was reading the third part of Scott’s three-part article on choosing a camera that finally prompted me write this post. Have a read for yourself here.

Hey, glad to see it, Bart! How nice of you to post this! I agree completely, as you know. Scott Bourne is one of the very best photography guys on the radio/net. All substance.
We all benefit from his “wealth” of knowledge. Because he is wealthy, he can afford to buy everything on the market; he is generous about sharing his experiences with us.
I think Bourne is the reason to listen to TWIP. I like the other guests too, but the giddy laughter is tiresome. Who says only girls giggle?
I am glad they have a woman on the show this week. I think this is the first time we will hear a woman’s voice on this podcast.
Scott Brourne is an opinionated guy.
That means that his opinion will clash with others from time to time, and I think most of us that have opinions of our own have felt ruffled by this, if we listen to the shows that he actively particpate on.
Although I don’t always agree with Mr. Bourne, I find his side of the conversation helpful to consider.
By all public accounts, he is a hard-working and knowledgeable individual, and is able to allow opulence to inform his lifestyle choices. Which means when others challenge his position on something, it is easy (and fair game) to defend his position because he can afford his choices…
When I feel like I’m starting to be annoyed by Mr. Bourne’s position on things, I take a break for a while. The role he plays on the TWiT/PixelCorps shows is good for the conversation and is of value.
Good Journey!
